The Lauf Carbonara is our newest creation. It is perfect for fat bikes, making them even more playful with 60mm / 2.35" of travel in a super lightweight 1100g / 2.4lbs package.
4.5 out of 5!
"The advantage of the combination was that the bike was very light, and on single tracks it feels like you are the king. On Dutch trails the Lauf Trail Racer is absolutely recommended. And another advantage of the system is that it requires no maintenance!"
"The Lauf’s leaf springs mean there’s absolutely no loss of feel from sticky moving parts – the Lauf lets the wheel track the ground unhindered by additional friction, resulting in a buttery smooth ride."
"Likewise, with no moving parts, maintenance is a non-issue – there’s simply nothing to maintain"
"During climbs and powerful acceleration the Lauf feels almost as a rigid fork. The responsiveness the lightweight fork adds to bike, is lightning fast. You must be both super sensitive and petulant to notice some flex."
"I think it is crazy fun to ride, the quick and sensitive characteristics make the bike feel incredibly fast. How it will turnout on the stopwatch, I think depends on the terrain. But it if you have 8490SEK, and think that riding a bike is the best there is, you have to go for it. I am going to test it in some of the longer races in the upcoming season and I hardly believe that I will be disappointed."
"Coming off of Specialized's carbon rigid fork, the Trail Racer was a welcome addition and actually made the bike more fun and comfortable, allowing us to ride longer. On most cross country terrain, the Trail Racer eats up small chatter without question, and the undamped rebound speed didn't cause any problems. While soaking up small chatter, the fork still felt very stiff laterally when torquing on the handlebars out of the saddle."
"This is the lightest cross-country fork I’ve ever ridden and I’d be happy to run one for racing, trail centres and buff, swoopy singletrack."
"Definitely a really interesting product, a third alternative between classic 100 mm fork and rigid fork. Really useful for trails which are not too difficult, bunch of XC races outside mountains area, this fork is reactive and absorbs bunch of frequently met bumps. [...] No maintenance needed, good for muddy conditions as well with a construction without bridge, the Lauf TR29 is a must have if you are looking for a lightweight but ridable bike."
"The fork is a masterpiece of simplicity." "In my view, a very comfortable rigid fork or a suspension fork for extreme purists - depending on which way you look at it, and thus a serious alternative for all those considering a move from conventional suspension forks to rigid ones, but fear the transition."
"It’s certainly not for everyone, but neither is a long travel fork with dual compression and rebound adjustments. After riding it, I think they’re onto something and can fill a niche in the XC scene."
"The Lauf Trail Racer is a real alternative for xc mountain bikes."
"What do we think? As crazy as the Lauf TR29 fork seems at first glance, it makes sense for riders who don't need or want a lot of suspension travel - or who are turned off by the threat of future maintenance and the complication of telescopic suspension forks."
"As a pro MTB'er I always need to improve and think new ways to do things, the LAUF fork is simply a masterpiece of modern cycling technology!
The LAUF fork is exactly what I have been looking for. You loose almost 1 kg compared to other suspension systems on the market! No maintenance, no problems!! Just ride!!"
“Everyone should be riding on this fork! My biggest concern was “bob” issues when climbing because I’ve become so dependent on fork lock outs. I no longer have any concerns, it climbed great but still offers small bump absorption during out of the saddle efforts.”
“The fork absorbed the little bit of trail chatter, ate up the unseen bumps, yet still felt stiff in the corners. I didn’t notice any brake dive or bobbing when out of the saddle.”
"By adding the Lauf fork to my bike, I immediately noticed my bike weighed less and had a more responsive ride, while still providing sufficient vibration control and big hit shock absorption."
"Lauf is the most polyvalent fork that you can buy. It makes the same sense of lightness as my previous rigid carbon fiber fork and when I'm doing downhill I don't be worried about rocks or bumps because of its capacity of absorption is amazing."
"I highly recommend the TR29 for racers specifically. The benefits of the fork outweigh the downsides in my opinion. I prefer it over traditional suspension forks and it is now a permanent fixture on my race bike and my future race bike. So what are you waiting for? Get Laufed!"
The quick and agile Lauf fork fully compresses in technical sections and has great small bump absorption, at the same time. All while staying very stiff and solid, thus creating a very smooth and comfortable ride.
"It was the perfect fork for the Sea Otter Classic XC. Awesome when climbing and it gave me impressive grip through the corners."
"Today the Niner with the Lauf Trail Racer 29" made a big difference. The bike was light and had great response as if it had a rigid fork, but filtered out all the bumps that would have slowed me down and worn me out. It also gave me great traction in the turns. The weight is incredible at 990grams. In other words, the perfect fork for a race like the Birkebeiner."
"It’s lighter than my roadbike and even better stiffness. I absolutely love the stiffness of this fork!!! It also puts my front a little lower, which makes my position a little more aerodynamic."
"I was thrilled to get to take the Lauf Trail Racer 29” and race it in its first XC contest on my Focus Raven. Winning the race was incredible and I was stoked on the performance of the fork. 60mm of suspension with a slight backwards movement is even better than a conventional 80-100mm suspension"
